Fatawu Mohammed reveals reasons behind Hearts of Oak’s poor start in the season.
Accra Hearts of Oak have not been in their best form since the start of the 2019/2020 in the Ghana Premier League. After playing last five games before the suspension of the league, Hearts sits 9th on the league log with 21 points (2W,3D).
One would wonder why a club like Hearts of oak having such a poor performance. But explaining some of the reasons for the side’s abysmal start, the captain of the team outlined change of coach as one of the key reason behind their slow start.
He believes that the last minute change of coach affected the club performance.
“I think the changing of the coach at that minute is the reason why we couldn’t start the season well” he mentioned.
“After training with a coach for some time (Pre-season), you get use to his formation and style then you changed another coach. You see that its difficult and it would take time for the players to get use his style” He added.
Speaking to Sey Mubarik on Gbanju Fm,on his experience with the club, in terms of performance this season, the former Black stars B player, rated himself poor and attributed it to his contract issues with the club.
“I agree that things didn’t go well for me at the start of the season, I had a bad start of the season, that was due to the contract issues that I had with the club” he said.
“My contract was renewed, two days to the start of the league. Initially I wasn’t sure and because of that I couldn’t do pre-season with them” he explained.
Football in the country is still under suspension, even though the President has started easing some restrictions in the country to get things back to normalcy.
The fate of the Ghana football season will be decided after June 30.
