AFRICA NEWS: SAFA set to announce the appointment of Ex- Bafana Bafana Star
The South Africa Football Association, are set to announce the appointment of former forward Benedict Saul “Benni” McCarthy as the new coach of the men’s national team.
According to reports from Africa Football expect, Nuhu Adams, the Ex- FC Porto kingpin and UEFA Champions League winner has agreed in principles to take the helms of affairs of the South Africa National team.
McCarthy 43, is currently the coach of Durban based PSL club Amazulu FC and will combine it with the National job.
The former Cape-town City gaffer is the only South to win the UEFA Champions League with Porto in the 2003-2004 season under Jose Mourinho.
Benni McCarthy who made 79 appearance for the South Africa National team is the all-time leading top-scorer for the Bafana Bafana’s with 31 goals.
Benni McCarthy also stint with Ajax, Celta Vigo, FC Porto, Black Rovers, Westham United and Orlando Pirates during his playing career.
Former Real Madrid and Colombia manager Carlos Quieroz, Pitso Mosimane, Hugo Broos and two-time Afcon winning coach Herve Renard were all in contention for the Job.
