Gaston Sirino makes huge Al Ahly admission
Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Gaston Sirino admits he would love to join Al Ahly in the future as he talked up the clash against his former coach Pitso Mosimane.
Ahly made no secret of their desire to lure Sirino to Cairo and the pursuit of his services were amplified when Mosimane left Sundowns to join the Red Devils.
However, the Brazilians held firm during negotiations which fell through after the African champions stopped short of their asking price.
But ahead of the Champions League quarter-final clash Sirino has suggested that he still harbours hopes of representing the record nine-time African champions.
“I thank the fans of Al Ahly for the love that I always receive, and it will be a great challenge if I can someday wear the Al Ahly shirt,” Sirino told Sky News Arabia.
“Facing Al-Ahly in the Champions League quarter-finals is like an early final. It will be a great match. We have to enjoy this important confrontation. Al-Ahly and Sundowns are two great and very good teams.”
