Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo has ordered the country’s sports minister and football authorities to begin talks with England star Callum Hudson Odoi over the possibility of switching to play for the West African country.
This comes after the Chelsea star, who was born to Ghanaian parents in England, paid a courtesy visit to the leader of the West African state on Monday night while visiting the country on holidays.
Hudson-Odoi, whose father is a former Ghana international and a Hearts of Oak star Bismark Odoi, can switch nationality to play for the Black Stars despite playing for the England national team in recent times.
The Chelsea star visited the country’s leader in his elder brother Bradley Hudson-Odoi and the Ghana Sports Minister Honourable Mustapha Usif at the seat of government called the Jubilee House.
“On Monday, 7th June 2021, Ghanaian-born Chelsea footballer, Callum Hudson-Odoi, paid a courtesy call on me at Jubilee House, the seat of our nation’s presidency,” President Akufo-Addo wrote on Monday night.
“Amongst others, I urged the Minister for Youth and Sports to explore the possibility of having Callum switch nationality, and play for the Black Stars.”
