Ghana drops to 53rd in latest FIFA Rankings

Ghana has dropped one place to the 53rd position in the latest FIFA rankings for the month of September.

The drop follows Ghana’s poor showing in their opening two World Cup qualifiers, beating Ethiopia and losing to South Africa in their first two games.

The Black Stars remain 7th on the continent despite the drop in the main rankings, behind Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria and Egypt.

Senegal remain the number one team in Africa and have also moved up to 20th in the world. The Teranga Lions are followed by the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, now ranked 25th in the world.

Defending African Champions Algeria are third on the continent and 30th in the global ranking. Meanwhile, Belgium remain the number one ranked nation in the world, but world champions France have dropped to fourth, with Brazil retaining their second spot.

The three Lions of England are now number three in the world, while European champions Italy round up the top five.
