Johnson Smith to join Bekwai Youth FC as new head coach

Former Asante Kotoko assistant coach, Johnson Smith is heading to Bekwai Youth FC as the new head coach for the lower side according to multiple media reports.

The experienced trainer lost his role as the assistant gaffer for the Porcupine Warriors following the appointment of Prosper Nartey as new head coach.

The former coach has however, named David Ocloo and John Eduafo as his assistants.

Smith was left out of Asante Kotoko’s trip to Dubai for their pre-season ahead of the new 2021/22 Ghana football season.

The former Karela United boss will now reunite with Dr Kwame Kyei at Bekwai Youth FC.

Dr Kwame Kyei, who is the Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko has purchased a Division One League club following successful negotiations.

The hardworking and astute businessman has paid ¢200,000 with a 100% stake in the Division One club Bekwai Youth Football Academy.

BYFA are in Zone two of the National Division One. The club secured promotion into the country’s second-tier league in 2017 and are yet to qualify for the Ghanaian top-flight since.
