Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has told Mesut Ozil to stop sulking and focus on football if he wants to get back in the starting line-up.
The German midfielder’s time in Turkey has not gone to plan so far after finding himself on the bench in recent weeks for the top-flight outfit.
There have been a couple outbursts on the bench this season, but the Fenerbahce president has now told him to start contributing to the team.
“Since the start of this season, Mesut Ozil has been compared to Robin van Persie (in terms of his status at Fenerbahce),” he said, as per Goal.
“Ozil wants to play more. From now on, he needs to focus on his game and keep his commercial interests out of it. He needs to think about contributing to Fenerbahce.
“Our coach also needs to try to figure out how to get the most out of Ozil. There is not a problem, despite what the media says. Mesut is unhappy because he does not play regularly.”
The 33-year-old has registered just four goals and one assist in 13 appearances across all competitions this season.
