Report: Ghanaian killed in South Africa after painful Bafana Bafana defeat

A Ghanaian has been killed in South Africa following Ghana’s win against the Bafana Bafana in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, according to reports sighted by Footballghana.com.

Ghana recorded a win over South Africa to advance to the final round of the qualifiers.

According to information gathered, a Ghanaian living in Mzuluku in South Africa has been stabbed to death by a South African who believes Ghana’s penalty was not legitimate.

“Yaw Owusu, a 39yr old man who works at a saloon had a few arguments with his apprentice before the game on Sunday. The argument resurfaced on Monday morning after the controversy on the penalty and has stabbed him to death.

“We are now trying to find his family members in Ghana,” another Ghanaian in South Africa identified as Owuraku told Fox FM in an interview.

He added, “The tension on Ghanaians here is very high. The South Africans have threatened to deal with Ghanaians here after their petition to FIFA. We are pleading on authorities to come to our aid.”

Meanwhile, South Africa FA has filed an official complaint to FIFA seeking a replay of the match over claims that the referee for last Sunday’s game manipulated the match in favour of the hosts.
