Ayew brothers still committed to Black Stars’ – Fiifi Tackie

Local media reports claiming that the Ayew brothers – Andre and Jordan – have quit the Ghana senior national team are untrue, says their spokesperson Fiifi Tackie.

The two were among some Black Stars players subjected to serious public scrutiny after Ghana’s failure at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Some Ghanaians were especially very critical of Jordan Ayew for his long goal drought with the four-time African champions.

Even some former players have questioned what the two are doing with the Black Stars, saying the Ghana national team is not for only them.

As the rumours were still raging on, Tackie posted on Twitter that he “just got off the phone” with them and that they are still committed to the Black Stars as always.

“Andrè and Jordan Ayew are still very committed to the Black Stars team as they have always been,” he added.

“They will keep donning the Black Stars jersey to represent Ghana and give the team their very best on and off the pitch, as always.”

Captain Andre Ayew will be missing the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff games against Nigeria after receiving a red card in the Afcon defeat to Comoros.
