As Ghana football continue to make the sports attractive for players and its various stakeholders in terms of finance, getting rid of the brutalities in the game is also a major fight the game faces.
Various incidents has happened in Ghana football which involved players, supporters, officials (referees) and club administrators been assaulted by opponents fans and even some times players.
We can mention of these cases, the Elmina Sharks-Medeama case in 2018, when referee Nuhu Liman was injured as he made his way to the dressing room following a testy first half, assaults on the Referees at Wamanafo by the home supporters in the Division One League match between Wamanafo Mighty Royals FC and Tano Bofoakwa FC on Sunday, March 28, 2021, Karela United and Medeama SC case that happened on both football venues of the clubs.
The recent one is what happened yesterday in a Division One League game that went on at the Assin Fosu Jomso Park when Samatex defeated Achiken 1-0.
During the game, a penalty was awarded to the away team, Samatex and that made the home fans run at players of Samatex, got their goalkeeper George Arthur beaten and injured.
The home fans also attacked the referee who officiated the game.
Per report, one man who was keenly involved in the brutality happens to be the CEO of Achiken FC, he’s by the name Emmanuel Akonko.
