BREAKING: GFA to name Chris Hughton as Black Stars new coach

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to announce the appointment of the Irish-born of Ghanaian descent as Black Stars new gaffer on a long-term contract.

The decision to name the former Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion manager as new head coach comes after a fruitful discussion between the Football Association and the Sports Ministry on Friday.

Earlier this week, a delegation from the GFA led by Kurt Okraku and Tony Baffoe travelled to Germany to meet Otto Addo to become Milovan Rajevac’s successor while the Government of Ghana was insisting the appointment of Hughton.

After meeting with Addo, who served as Rajevac’s assistant, the GFA delegation held a meeting with Dortmund. The German club agreed to GFA’s proposal for Otto to supervise the Black Stars for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria.

However, the Government and the country’s football governing has finally reached an agreement to give the Black Stars coaching job to the 68-year-old as replacement for Milovan Rajevac.
