After the first round of the Ghana Premier League, Karela United gained 25 points in 17 games played, However, the head coach of the Aiyinase-based Karela United, Bismark Kobi-Mensah has revealed Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars team as his toughest opponents during the first round.
“They were difficult because the game against Aduana Stars was the first game of the season and mostly such games the players are yet to play to their best rhythm and the team’s style of play and again in games like that the fans puts certain pressure on the team so it makes things difficult. The next one was against Chelsea and I had watched Berekum Chelsea but one good thing I did was I never showed their clip to my players because per what I watched as a coach, they did a very different thing when they came here and in that game they scored first but we came back stronger to equalize and score again to take the lead.”Kobi Mensah noted.
He was also asked about how he gives opportunities to players from the Western Region especially the Sekondi Takoradi based players in every team that he goes and he said “all of them has done so well and he added, he doesn’t only give anybody from the area the chance but to those who’s got the talent and truly deserves it. He also revealed that, he gives players who have qualities to play to his system”. The likes of Ebenezer Ocran, Daniel Kwofie Chibsah, Isaac Donkor and Kelvin Keita Andoh are some of the players from the Western Region.
He heaped praises on Kelvin Andoh and Isaac Donkor for their inputs during the first round of the Ghana League.
