Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Abdou Diallo will miss Senegal’s decider against Egypt in the second leg of their 2022 Fifa World Cup African qualifying playoffs at the Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old picked an adductor injury after only 14 minutes in the African champions’ 1-0 defeat to the Pharaohs on Friday in the first leg at the Cairo International Stadium.
“His ultrasounds reveal an elongation of the adductors, he will not be able to play Tuesday’s match,” Senegalese newspaper Les Echos said on Monday.
Diallo has been a mainstay in the team as Aliou Cisse’s team navigated their way to a first Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) title in Cameroon in February.
The France-born defender will be a big miss as Senegal attempt to overturn a 1-0 deficit and qualify for the World Cup in Qatar in Diamniadio.
