Ashgold’s Yaw Annor not worried with Black Stars snub, keen on grabbing top scorer award

Ashantigold’s joint top-scorer in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL), Yaw Annor says he is not a worried man because he did not earn a call-up to the Black Stars.

According to the lethal forward, he will continue to work hard and at the right time, he won’t let the opportunity slide away when invited.

“The National team will always be there.
I didn’t make the Black Stars squad but I’m not worried. I will continue to train hard and at the right time when they invite me, I’m ready to play”, he said.

Speaking on his tight race with Kotoko’s Mbella for the goal king, the former Bechem United winger said he remains optimistic of surpassing Mbella for the golden boot.

“I have the same goals with Mbella and now it is a competition for us. Our next game is on away soil and every game, I try to score atleast a goal. I will be very happy if I end the season as the top scorer. he told Star Times after the game.

Annor has been in devastating form for the Miners this season, scoring 20 goals in 27 games, same with Mbella who has also featured in 27 for the Porcupine Warriors in his debut season.

However, Kotoko won the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League after playing out a 1-1 stalemate with Ashantigold today at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium with three games left to climax the season.

Yaw Annor scored for Ashgold before the league leaders drew level through Maxwell Agyemang.
