Supporters of Kotoku Royals on Monday went into wild jubilation after they secured qualification to the Ghana Premier League.
The Akyem-based side held Tema Youth to 0-0 draw in matchday 30 of the Division One League to secure qualification to the Ghana topflight football for the first time.
Just after the game and got to know the results between Liberty Professionals and Susubribi, there was wild jubilation by enthusiastic Kotoko Royals amid tooting of taxis and trotro horns to herald the victory of the Royals historic achievement.
At the club’s own community of Akim Oda, jubilant supporters clad in Kotoku Royals colours and waving flags, were joined by traders and shoppers to dance to music provided by cassette sellers and drum beating fans.
The Ghana FA will present trophy and medals to the newly promoted Ghana Premier League side in a special coronation match yet to be announced.
The promotion means, the Eastern Region based club will participate the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
