Karela United and Nzema Kotoko have cleared the air on media allegations centered on the involvement of their monthly payments in the Ghana National Gas Company’s Sponsorship deal.
Ghana Gas which operates in the coastal town of Atuabo in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region on November 2019 agreed a deal with both clubs for three year Sponsorship deal, as part of the firm’s decision to support the two glamorous clubs on their operational land and to take part of their financial burden by paying Ghc50,000 each to the clubs.
Earlier this year, the General Manager of the company Mr. Stephen Donkor claimed on West End Radio that his outfit has been paying Ghc50,000 every month to the club since 2020 which has be disregarded as “total hoax and false report”.
However, both clubs in an exclusive interactions with West End Radio have denied such claims and revealed particularly by Karela United that they have not received any monthly payments for the last 16 months.
So 16-months down the lane per our exclusive checks, the Gas Processing Company in total owns both club a reported sum of Ghc1.6million Ghana cedis( ¢800, 000 each).
” In 2020 during the pandemic, they ( Ghana Gas) were paying us but from 2021 up to date no money has been paid to us ” one club official told West End Radio.
On the failure of Ghana Gas to fulfill the payment schedule, the two clubs doesn’t see a breach of contract and still have confidence in the partnership.
Karela United and Nzema Kotoko are struggling financially that has affected them to begin preseason for the upcoming Ghana football season.
