Karela United beat Nzema Kotoko 6-5 on penalties to retain Osagyefo Memorial Cup

Karela United won the 2022 Osagyefo Memorial Cup for the second consecutive time in their history by beating Nzema Kotoko 6-5 on penalties after a pulsating goalless draw on Tuesday.

Prince Asempah kept out the Nzema Kotoko newly signed player’s spot kick to secure victory for the Ghana Premier League side.

Games between these two sides in Nzema have historically been tight affairs, with just two of their previous meetings having been won by a margin of more than one goal.

It was the same game again on Tuesday afternoon as the two teams tussled for a 90 minutes in a game that didn’t witness until it was decided through penalties.

In the end, it came down to who could keep cool in their sweltering heat and after 13 penalties, Patrick Mensah placed his shot right corner which was nearly saved by Evans Quansah and hand Karela United their first silverware of the season and second trophy in the history of Osagyefo Memorial Cup since 2016.

Congratulations to the Passioners??.
