“We are out of title race” – Aduana Stars coach Paa Kwesi Fabin

Paa Kwesi Fabin, the head coach of Aduana FC, has conceded defeat in the race for the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title following their 1-0 loss at home to Dreams FC on Saturday.

The defeat at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa during the 32nd matchweek has severely diminished the Fire boys’ chances of clinching the title with only two matches remaining in the season.

Dreams FC, who were fighting to secure their safety in the league, put up a resilient performance, resulting in a goalless first half. Their game plan proved even more effective in the second half when Ali Huzaif broke the deadlock with a brilliant header in the 60th minute, beating Aduana’s goalkeeper Joseph Addo.

Huzaif’s solitary goal proved to be the decisive factor, earning all three points for the visitors.

Fabin openly admitted that the league trophy had slipped away from their grasp. In an interview with StarTimes, he stated, “No, of course, we are almost out. We are out. We have an obligation to play the next two matches, so we will play and see what happens.”

Currently, Aduana sits in second place in the league standings, trailing leaders Medeama by four points. However, if Bechem United defeats RTU in Tamale, Aduana could potentially drop to the third position.

Aduana’s upcoming match will be an away fixture against Nsoatreman, a team fighting against relegation, as they fulfill their remaining fixtures in the league.
