Asamankese Young Kotoko emerged victorious in the Tariq Lamptey Foundation Charity Tournament, defeating Nana Kodie FC with a single goal today at the Asamankese Methodist Park.
The tournament, organized by Tariq Lamptey, the talented 22-year-old player from Brighton and Hove Albion, aimed to give back to young footballers and students in Anum, Asamankese.
The exhibition match consisted of two 20-minute halves, and the winning goal came from Young Kotoko’s captain, Prince Atsu, who fired a long-range shot past Kodie FC’s goalkeeper, Derek Asiedu.
Atsu was later recognized as the best player of the match and was presented with boots by Lamptey.
He handed out prizes, including Brighton’s 2023/2024 jerseys and football boots donated by the club and his teammates, to the participating teams and two schools: Freeman Methodist School and Wesley Methodist School.
