Ghana Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah has suffered relegation with AJ Auxerre in the French Ligue 1 following their final game of the season on Saturday night.
The home side suffered a big blow after failing to win against their opponent which could have helped them to stay in the league.
However, the lost the game 3-1 and that confirmed their demotion to the French Ligue 2 just 9 months after securing promotion.
Stade de l’Abbe- Deschamps side will be playing in the French Ligue 2 in the next football season.
The talented defender had an excellent season, featured in 26 games despite Auxerre’s failure to remain in the topflight.
Gideon Mensah will be in Ghana to prepare for the Black Star’s Afcon 2023 qualifier game against Madagascar in Antananarivo on June 18, 2023.
