Medeama to earn GHC 300,000 as prize money for winning first league title

Medeama SC are expected to pocket GH₵300,000 as prize money for clinching the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Yellow and Mauve side were officially crowned GPL champions at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa after their 3-0 win over Tamale City in match week 34 on Sunday.

After the end of the 2022/23 season, Medeama SC had 60 points, 5 points ahead of second placed Aduana Stars.

This season’s triumph ends Western Regions’ trophy drought after 47 years – with their last League title dating back to the 1977 campaign.

Medeama received a trophy and 40 gold medals for their contingent.

The first and second runner ups are expected to receive GH₵ 150,000, 40 silver medals and GH₵100,000, 40 bronze medals respectively, according to reports available to Domesticsportsgh.com.

By virtue of this achievement, Medeama SC will play in the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League as Ghana’s sole representative in Africa’s flagship club competition.
