Majority Leader disagrees with Chris Hughton dismissal

Majority leader of parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, has objected to the dismissal of Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.

He said this after Hughton was sacked after Ghana crashed out of the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire in the group stage.

Exiting the 2023 AFCON means Ghana has been kicked out of the continental championship for the second edition in a row.

The Black Stars couldn’t hold leads and conceded late goals to miss out on a win in three Group B games as Ghana drew 2-2 with Cape Verde and Mozambique respectively and lost 1-2 to Cape Verde.

After criticizing Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew’s standing in the Black Stars over his performances, the Member of Parliament voiced his disagreement over Hughton’s sacking.

“For me, I don’t believe in that-sacking Chris Hughton-at all. He should have been given the chance…I don’t believe in that” he said to Angel FM-Kumasi.
