[VIDEO] Al Ahly get special welcome to Kumasi ahead of Medeama tie on Friday

Egypt’s Al-Ahly Sporting Club have landed in Kumasi ahead of their CAF Champions League tie against Ghana’s Medeama Sporting Club.

The club landed at the Kumasi Airport and got welcomed by school children in the lead up to the Champions League Group D tie against the Tarkwa side at 16:00 GMT.

Ahly lead the group with six points from four games while Medeama rank bottom of the standings with four points after winning a game, drawing another and losing two games.

This comes on the back of the Champions League record winners officially stating the reason for making contacts with CAF over the possible postponement of its tie against Ghana side Medeama Sporting Club.

The statement released on the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) page communicates that the Egyptian side’s plane was involved in an accident that forced the Ahly contingent to stay in Accra overnight.

The situation forced Al-Ahly to request for the tie to be postponed due to the inconvenience encountered on their trip.
