His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, president of the Republic of Ghana, has tasked Kofi Adams to focus on building all disciplines in Ghanaian sports.
Sports in Ghana have seen a major decline in recent years, from the Black Stars of Ghana failing to reach the African Cup of Nations to the struggle of winning a single medal at the Olympics since Tokyo 2020.
Kofi Idie Adams, the new Minister for Sports and Recreation, during his swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House after receiving parliamentary approval, as charged by His Excellency Mahama to be a Minister for all disciplines.
“The shambles that is Ghana sports today is completely unacceptable for a country without pedigree. And I expect you would inject transparency, professionalism, and modernity into the management of the sector.
I expect that you concentrate on building up all the sporting disciplines, and I know the Ghana Football Association will be a good place to start,” the president said to Kofi Adams.
The new Minister will begin his work first by engaging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on measures put in place to improve the country’s status in the world of football.
