Watching football in the Ghana Premier League centre has been a exciting and sometimes unwanted experience for many football lovers.

The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League venues made up vastly different facilities, including Category A stadium, standard facility and modern day Park, it gives football fans several exotic location to watch football.

While some centres don’t always get the attention they deserve due to safety concerns, there are indeed peaceful centres that are perfectly safe to watch football matches.

In this article, we will look at the safest and unsafest venues in the Ghana Premier League according to the Domesticsportsgh’s Internal Reporters Research ( IRR) to give peace of mind when planning your next safari.

According to the IRR, the nation’s premier stadium Accra Sports Stadium, is the safest venue to watch football match in Ghana.

The 30,000 seated stadium ranked the best venue as of 2024 IRR data.

A total of 15 venues are featured in the IRR report, which ranks each venue’s level of safety or danger based on 5 indicators.

These indicators include the number of internal violent conflicts, public disorders, fans throwing objects, indecent chanting, pitch incursions and death tolls.

The lower the score the higher the venue is ranked in terms of safety.

However, in the aftermath of the devastating incident at Nsoatre, which claimed the life of a devoted Asante Kotoko supporter.

The shocking incident has sent waves of concern throughout the football community in the West African country.

What happened on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in the match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko at the Nana Kronamansah Park is not an isolated case or rare instant but rather It’s a reflection of continuous barbaric acts which have been overlooked over the years in Ghana football.

It’s quite unfortunate a fan lost his life; however, it’s not the first time such has happened in the last decade. And sorry to say it might not be last time we witness something like that again if significant measures, changes, and stringent punishments are not implemented after the brutal stabbing of staunch Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly referred to as Nana Pooley.

Currently, Nsoatreman’s Nana Kronamansah Park “notoriously” ranked first for several metrics including the recent stabbing of famous Kotoko supporter Pooley, pitch incursions as well as the total number of incidents.

From 2021/22 season to the 2024/25 campaign, there have been a total of 9 incidents relating to matchday hooliganism and offenses at Nana Kronamansah Park, 5 of which were violent and public disorder recorded during their time in the Division One, this significantly rank the centre as the most dangerous venue in terms of the fans matchday experience.

Berekum Chelsea’s Golden City Park ranked in the second place with an incidents totaling 8. The venue is being regarded as the most intimidating centre according to the travelling fans and journalists.

Nana Agyemang Bedu Park in Dormaa has been ranked 3rd on the list, and has had 6 more violent and public disorder incidents since 2023.

Brong Ahafo Region teams lead the top 5 list with the latest inclusion of Nana Gyeabour Park in Bechem, the venue has recorded 6 incidents since 2023 which has led some journalists and football enthusiasts labeled the region as the darkest face of the local football.

Wenchi Sports Complex, Crosby Awuah Memorial Park, Kpando Sports Stadium, Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Len Clay and Bibiani Duns Park, all listed in top 10.

Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium, Accra Sports Stadium, Legon Sports Stadium, WAFA Park and TNA Stadium are the safest venues currently in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

While Alui Mahama Stadium, Dr. Nsienkyire Park, Nana Kraku Park and Tuba Astro turf were considered as the least “Safest Venue ” per the IRR Report.
