“There were no attacks or assaults”- Holy Stars reacts to Nations FC rants

Basake Holy Stars has reacted to the allegations made by Nations FC following their crucial Ghana Premier League match on Sunday.

The matchday 33 fixture, held at the ÀAK arena, descended into chaos following controversial penalty decisions awarded to home side.

Nations players stormed the pitch to protest against the decision, triggering a series of events that led to violence and the eventual boycott of the game by the away team.

In an exclusive interview earlier today on Takoradi based West Gold FM, Nana Ainoo Kwegyan III, a Management Member of the club, disclosed that, there were no attacks or assaults against the away team even before, during and after the game.

He further criticised the Nations FC for spreading lies to the public domain and condemned their acts as unprofessional in the association football.

” There were as many as maximum security at the stadium, I even led their supporting base inside, Everything were discussed during the prematch on security reasons and nothing like assaults on their players include Dr kwame kyei, So I am surprised they are spreading false information” he said.

” Nations rather invaded the pitch trying to attack the centre referee but the security men were there to calm things down, so no attacks from the home side, and it was a clear penalty awarded by the centre referee”, he added.

As for now Ghana Football Association ( GFA) has not issued an official statement on the incident.
