Barcelona agree loan deal for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford is set to join Spanish giants FC Barcelona on loan, with an option to buy included in the deal, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old England international becomes the latest big-name player to be ushered out of Old Trafford after falling out of favour under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Rashford was one of five stars; alongside Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho asked to train separately as the club explores possible exits for the group.

According to sources, a verbal agreement is already in place between all parties. Rashford is expected to undergo medical tests in the coming days, with Manchester United ready to approve his travel to Spain once the final paperwork is completed.

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has long admired Rashford. Back in May, he told RAC1:

“We like Luis [Díaz], we like Rashford, and we like other players who can improve the team.”

Despite having a contract at United until June 2028, Rashford has been frozen out of pre-season preparations. He was left out of the squad that travelled to Sweden to face Leeds United and has not been assigned a shirt number for the new season.

Rashford made his debut for Manchester United in 2016 under Louis van Gaal at just 18 years old. Since then, he’s scored 138 goals in 426 appearances, becoming a symbol of the club’s academy success.

However, his last appearance came back in December 2024 in a 2-1 Europa League win against Viktoria Plzen, and it appears his chapter at Old Trafford is drawing to a close.
