The leading construction firm of the controversial Axim Sports Complex, Bismat Construction Limited, has rejected the ideal of the handling over the facility to be used for the annual Kundum Football Gala due to the current circumstances.
In August 2025 we reported that the National Youth Authority through the municipal branch has temporarily released Axim Sports Complex for the annual Kundum Festival after several engagements among the chiefs and youth wing of the area.
However, in an exclusive interview with West End Radio on Tuesday, Mr.Bismark Obuobi, the Managing Director of the Construction Limited has denied that nothing has been settled or approved for the usage of the facility.
” As I am talking to you now, my firm has not received any letter or proposal from the youth, and moreover we can’t handover the facility to them, since the project has not been completed and commissioned”, he said.
“The youth and the entire community are part of the beneficiary, it left just 10% to complete the project, We are just waiting for the appropriate quarters for funds and I can tell you we can even complete the project within 30 days, so the youth I know are very desperate and want to use the facility but they should wait for us to complete and commission the project first” he added.
The Axim Sports complex which was built by the past administration with a grant from the central government in 2018, was expected to receive a massive final facelift in August after memorandum of understanding between the Municipal Assembly and the Bismat Construction Limited hence work has not been resumed since June 2022.
