Stephen Ahorlu backs CK Akonnor to succeed as Black Stars coach
Ex Black Stars goal keeper Stephen Ahorlu has thrown his weight behind new Black Stars coach, CK Akonnor as he strongly believes the latter has the traits and character to manage the senior national team.
Following the exit of Kwesi Appiah, the Ghana FA appointed CK Akonnor to lead the team on a two year deal.
However, the appointment of the former Dreams FC and Ashgold gaffer has been queried by many but Ahorlu believes the traits Akonnor demonstrated during his playing days makes him the right candidate.
Ahorlu, however, called on Ghanaians to offer the support he deserves in order to succeed.
“He has that kind of character to handle the Black Stars. Is not every player who has played football can manage a team,” he told West FM.
“He is currently the right man for the job “.He added
Akonnor has been tasked to end the country’s 38 years trophy drought in Cameroon in 2021 and qualify the country for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
