Asante Kotoko to petition CAS should Caf disqualify them from the competition due to Covid-19 irregularities
The leadership of Asante Kotoko will resort to the Court of Arbitration for Sports [CAS] should the Confederation of African Football [CAF] disqualify them from the Champions League.
The Kumasi-based outfit had travelled to Sudan to play the return fixture of their CAF Champions League game, after falling to a 0-1 defeat at home to Al-Hilal.
A COVID-19 test conducted before the match, however, returned 11 members of the Porcupine Warriors team positive.
The Ghanaian outfit remain highly suspicious of the test results released by the Sudanese officials.
According to reports, the Ghana Premier League powerhouse are ready to file a case with the Court of Arbitration for Sports should CAF fail to rule in favour of them in their petition to the football governing body against Al Hilal of Sudan in their away CAF Champions league match which was called off because of COVID-19 irregularities.
The report further adds that Kotoko suspects Al Hilal could be left off the hook even though the Ghanaian club have overwhelming evidence to support their case hence the discussions to resort to CAS.
Meanwhile, the draw for the group phase will be held today at the headquarters of Caf.
