[CHECK LIST]: GPL team of the first round of the season

Domesticsportgh, the Leading sports Website in the Western Region has released its first 11 of the first round in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Season.

Caf CC: Asante Kotoko seek Chief Imam’s blessings ahead of Wydad AC hurdle

Over 600 players took part in the first round of the Ghana Premier League which comprises of 18 Clubs.

Total of 338 goals was scored in the first round of the Ghana Premier League excluding Kotoko-Bechem game which is yet to be played.

RAZAK ABALORA- KOTOKO
The young goalie was superb in post to deny strikers on numerous occasions. Abalora conceded 9 goals in 15 matches, which made Kotoko one of the club with least number of goals conceded by a club in the first round. His output earned him a call up into the Black Stars ahead of São Tomé and South Africa.

DENNIS KORSAH- DWARFS
The Ebusua Dwarfs Captain has been the most outstanding right full back after the first round of the season. He has been solid in defence and his splendid runs across the flanks added a lot of potency to the attack of Ebusua Dwarfs.

ABDUL GANIYU -KOTOKO
The former WA All Stars skipper was undoubtedly the most consistent Kotoko’s centre-back in the first round of the Ghana Premier League. His play can be likened to Vigil Vandyck of Liverpool. He plays tirelessly and he is mostly the initiator of attack for Kotoko and his recovery rate was exceptional.

PHILIP SACKEY- OLYMPICS
Sackey has been sensational for great Olympics  commanding the backline of his defence throughout the first round. His exploits has indeed earned  him a call-up to the Black Stars.

 

 

KONADU YIADOM- WAFA
The youngster gave the WAFA goalie much protection. Konadu Yiadom has a better understanding and reading of the game. He has good clearances and block dangerous balls that were sent into his side’s 18-yard box.

UMAR BASHIRU- KARELA UNITED
The Karela United sensation  is the boss in midfield for the league leaders. His tackles and ball distributions throughout the season made it difficult for their opponents to match them in midfield. He is also a dead ball expert. Forming an excellent midfield trio with Sadiq Alhassan.

GLADSON AWAKO- OLYMPICS
He is very skilful on the ball and mostly retains possession.
Awako total contribution to team play has been amazing due to his high work rate. His partnership has proven to be the best throughout the season. He was named the Man of the Match in three games, making him among the few players who have won the highest number of awards in the first round. His inclusion is the reasons why Olympics are performing.

AUGUSTINE BOAKYE- WAFA
The WAFA midfielder until match day 8 was the finest player of the season. He used skills and trickery nature to the advantage of his opponents.
He created several goal scoring opportunities for WAFA and won the highest number of the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his team.

JOSEPH ESSO-DREAMS
The workaholic attacking midfielder finished the season on a high note. He had to initially fight for a place in the Dreams FC team. He started the season mostly well compatriots Emmanuel Ocran and Agyenim Boateng making them the finest attacking trio in the first round .
Esso came to the rescue of Dreams FC in difficult fixtures and ended up emerging as the club’s top scorer.

DIAWUSIE  TAYLOR- KARELA

Undisputedly, the best player of the first round.
The Karela United marksman was a torn in the flesh of most defenders. He is a playmaker cum scorer, creating chances and scoring as well. Diawusie Taylor has 12 goals to his credit and currently the leading top scorer in the league He is likely to lead the Black Stars attack ahead of South Africa and São Tomé AFCON qualifiers ties.

KWAME PEPRAH-KING FAISAL
The King Faisal danger man is the  club’s leading top scorer after the first half of the season, having hit the target 7 times. He gave defenders torrid time and he draws deep to midfield to support his team when he is not with the ball.

COACH: ANNOR WALKER- GREAT OLYMPICS

The head coach of Great Olympics has been excellent despite his heath issues, he is arguable the finest coach of the first half of the Ghana Premier League Season.
