Top 10 highest-paid African ballers in 2021

Mohamed Salah may be setting the Premier League alight again but the Liverpool superstar still remains outside the top-three highest-paid African superstars in the world.

The Egypt international could secure his third Premier League Golden Boot of his fourth season with the Reds as he’s now level with Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

Caf CC: Asante Kotoko seek Chief Imam’s blessings ahead of Wydad AC hurdle

His prolific form since his £36.5m move from AS Roma in June 2017 has seen him emerge as one of the elite forwards in world football which has even drawn praise from Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand in recent weeks.

With Ferdinand suggesting he’s not given enough recognition for his exploits, his desire to one day move to LaLiga has been rumoured to be around his wages not matching the elite superstars around him.

However, with a weekly wage of £200,000, he remains one of the highest-paid African stars, ahead of his teammates Sadio Mane and Naby Keita who represent Senegal and Guinea respectively.

Unsurprisingly, eight of the top 10 are all footballers from the English top-flight while former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo still features with a £190,000-a-week package with Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia.

10. Naby Keita (Liverpool)- £120,000-a-week (Guinea)

9. Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – £130,000-a-week (Ivory Coast)

8. Nicolas Pepe (Arsenal) – £140,000-a-week (Ivory Coast)

7. Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – £150,000-a-week (Senegal)

6. Odion Ighalo (Al-Shabab) – £190,000-a-week (Nigeria)

5. Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City)- £200,000-a-week (Algeria)

4. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)- £200,000-a-week (Egypt)

3. Thomas Partey (Arsenal)- £230,000-a-week (Ghana)

2. Cedric Bakambu (Beijing Guoan) – £307,000-a-week (DR Congo)

1. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)- £350,000-a-week (Gabon)
