Inter-schools competition to be revived- Deputy Sports Minister designate
Deputy Sports Minister-designate Hon Evans Opoku Bobie has promised to revived the old inter-schools games in his tenure as deputy Sports Minister.
The Member of Parliament for Asunafo North revealed during his ministerial vetting the plans he has to improve the Schools and colleges games which was the gateway to Ghana’s football development in the early 80’s.
In his response, he explained that the reviving of Inter-School games is the easiest way to go as it will help in the discovery and development of talents especially when of his most topmost vision is to build formidable national teams.
“Given the opportunity, I will liaise with National Sports Authority and Cooperate Ghana to see to it that if we have to revive the inter-schools improve facilities to be able to do” he said.
The Member of Parliament for the Asunafo Constitency is expected to be confirmed the minister for Youth and Sports after excelling at Tuesday’s vetting.
If he goes through successful vetting, the 46 year old will join substantive minister Hon. Mustapha Ussif at the ministry responsible for the development and promotion youth and sporting activities in the country.
He’s a former banker, Hon. Opoku Bobie was previously the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and later the Ahafo Regional Minister when the region was split into three.
He is expected to replace Perry Okudjeto, who was Deputy Minister to Isaac Asiamah in the last administration.
