‘Togbe Afede deserves praise for Hearts’ success- Mohammed Polo

Accra Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, has commended the Executive Board Chairman of the club, Togbe Afede XIV, for helping to break the Ghana Premier League jinx this season.

He also praised the technical team and the playing body for winning the club’s first league title in 11 years and urged them to focus on a strategic plan that would enable them fly the flag of Ghana high in the CAF Champions League.

“The victory of Hearts needs to be celebrated because it is long overdue. After the feat of the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, Hearts have been struggling to win the league since 2009.

“It is the investment, encouragement and patience of Togbe Afede that have brought the team to this level, hence the need to accord him the needed praise and respect to motivate him to continue investing his time, energy and resources to develop the team to a higher height, ” Polo told the Daily Graphic in an exclusive interview

Describing Togbe Afede XIV as a king with so much patience and love for Hearts, Polo noted that in spite of the intense pressure which was mounted on him at the time Hearts were struggling in the league, he (Togbe) was able to tolerate it and continued to invest to ensure the building of a formidable team.

“Now that he has been able to bring Hearts this far, the present generation of supporters who have been piling intense pressure on him should appreciate his gesture as a real Hearts man who is ready to take the team to greater heights.
“He has not only proven to be a king with much patience but has also proven that he is a leader who is ready to steer Hearts to chalk more successes if he is given the needed support and encouragement,” Polo stated.
