JUST IN: Legon Cities to part ways with Ghana legend
Legon Cities are on the verge of parting ways with the legendary Asamoah Gyan ahead of the 2021-22 season, after his season was hindered with injuries.
Gyan, 35, joined the Royals in 2020 following the expiration of his contract with Indian Professional League outfits, North East United.
The former Udinese striker struggled for consistency at the club due to persistent injuries.
Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals. He represented the Black Stars at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.
With 6 goals, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.
He has also represented Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics and in seven Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017, helping them finish in third place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.
He has previously played for Modena, Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG and Kayserispor
