C.K Akonnor bids emotional farewell to Ghana Black Stars
Former Ghana international, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has bid an emotional farewell to the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, Akwesi Appiah, the Ghana Football Association after confirming his departure.
The 47-year-old was sacked by the GFA together with his assistants after an unimpressive performance in Ghana’s Group G World Cup qualifying matches against Ethiopia and South Africa.
Coach Akonnor won four, drew two, and lost five of his 11 games in charge of the team.
“I’m grateful to H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Sports Ministry, my former boss Akwesi Appiah, the leadership of the GFA, colleagues I worked with, players and Ghanaians for the opportunity to serve,” the former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak gaffer wrote on his Twitter.
“Wishing the team all the best Thank you Ghana.”
