Gladson Awako tells Ghana media: ‘Focus on our league and stop promoting foreign content’
Experienced Ghana midfielder Gladson Awako has sent a strong message to Ghana media in relation to the promoting of Ghana Premier League.
The Black Stars midfielder is worried foreign league and players command a lot of respect in the press and dominate the air time in the Ghanaian media space.
Awako, whose transfer to the 2020/21 Ghana Champions, Hearts of Oak has been embroiled in controversy, was the brightest spot for former club, Great Olympics.
Awako, 30, believes with the performance of players in last season’s league, it’s time Ghanaian sports journalists spend some time moments promoting local players and the league on all platforms.
He tweeted this on his official Twitter handle:
Awako has a rich football experience both domestically and abroad having played for Hearts of Lions in Ghana before trials at Spanish Segunda B side Recreativo Huelva.
He played for former Ghana Premier League winners, Berekum Chelsea and later switched to Congolese giants, TP Mazembe in 2013. He was sent on loan to fellow Congo club, Don Bosco for more playing time before returning after his loan spell.
