The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), yesterday December 17, 2021 held it 46th edition of it’s annual awards ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra.
SWAG in collaboration with MTN and Startimes awarded sportsmen in the various categories for their outstanding performances.
The big winners were Samuel Takyi a bronze medalist in the men’s featherweight division in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, Kudus Mohammed was also in a scintillating form with the Black Stars and AFC Ajax whiles Daniel Afriyie Barnieh glittered for Hearts of Oak winning a Domestic double the (Ghana Premier League and Mtn FA Cup) and captained the Black Satellite of Ghana to win the WAFU zone B tournament held in Togo and also the U-20 Africa Nations Cup in Mauritania.
Samuel Takyi was crowned the sports personality of the year 2021 at the 46th SWAG Awards beating stiff competition from the 4×100 men’s relay team and Hearts of Oak attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
Mohammed Kudus also saw-off rivalry from Daniel Amartey and Jonathan Mensah who were all in contention for the award.
Hearts of Oak fleet-footed forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was also adjudged the home based footballer of the year 2021 beating former Karela United striker Diawise Taylor and Ismail Abdul Ganiu of Kotoko.
Hasaacas Ladies iconic skipper Janet Agyiri also picked the female footballer of the year after warding off competition from current teammate Jafar Rahama and Constance Serwaa Agyemang of Berry Ladies.
