Ghana’s female Under-17 football team, the Black Maidens, will host their Senegalese counterparts at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The match will be the second leg of their second round tie of the 2022 Women’s Word Cup qualifying campaign.
Two weeks ago, an 87th minute strike from Princess Owusu handed the Maidens an important 1-0 away win in the first leg encounter played at the Stade Lat-Dior in Thies, which they are hoping to build on to advance to the next round of the competition.
The Maidens’ coach, Mallam Baba Nuhu, was unhappy with the result from the first leg and has indicated that his side will be going for more goals in the second leg.
The seventh Under-17 Women’s World Cup was originally fixed for 2020 in India but was cancelled in 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. India will still stage the competition which is scheduled for October 11-30, 2022.
In Africa, three teams will be selected at the end of the four-round qualifying campaign to represent it at the competition, with 16 teams vying for the trophy.
There are four other matches to be played this weekend to decide which teams will join South Africa, Cameroun, Zambia, Egypt, Burundi and Niger who have all drawn byes for the next round.
