Ghana’s Black Stars were forced to train in the dark at the Mashood Abiola Stadium on Monday evening as lights at the stadium were switched off by Nigerian officials, according to Footballmadeinghana report.

The lights at the stadium suddenly went off and there were no attempts by the Nigerian officials to restore power for the training session of the Black Stars to continue.

Reports from the Black Stars camp indicate that the light were turned into ‘disco’ mode, going on and off until it eventually went off to stop the training completely.

A Nigerian journalist who spoke to footballmadeinghana.com on the basis of anonymity confirmed the disturbing news saying, ‘…it’s unexpected. the lights went on and off for about 4 times before eventually staying on, by which time the team had left the field.”

“It’s on now without any hitches but the on-and-off was rampant during the training session. For that, I can confirm,” he added.

This is considered as a huge strategy to frustrate the team and shift their attention from the game which comes off at the same venue on Tuesday.

Sources within the Ghanaian contingent in Nigeria have revealed that the technical team laughed off the obsolete strategy of the Nigerians while the players take it as a huge motivation for the game tomorrow.

Neither the Nigerian Football Federation nor the Sports Ministry has commented on the development after it barre bid the stars from training.

CAF is likely to sanction Nigeria for the occurrence since it violates the principles of fair play.
