John Obi Mikel’s quest to return to active football may not be too costly for potential suitors after his value dropped drastically in the transfer market.
The warning signs of Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup is beginning to emerge after erstwhile Super Eagles duo of John Mikel Obi and Azeez Ramon dropped in the market value following Wednesday’s release by Transfermarkt.
The former Chelsea midfielder who was valued at €23m on January 28, 2013, is now worth 300,000 euros in market value.
Mikel joined SC Kuwait from Stoke City for 2 million US dollars, but the deal only lasted for three months after his employers fired him for lack of match fitness
Last November.
The UEFA Champions League winner was initially valued at €1.2m, €1m, €600,000 on March 10, 2021, June 30, 2and 021 and October 28, 2021 respectively. But his latest market value is the lowest in his entire career.
Chelsea had splashed 20 million euros on the Europa Cup winner to make him the most expensive Nigerian player before it was overtaken by Odion Ighalo.
