The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations 2022 has officially launched the tournament ahead of its kickoff next month.

Local Organizing Committee led by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member Samuel Anim Addo and its Members out doored plans and programmes for the tournament on Tuesday at the Ridge Royal Hotel – Cape Coast. The short ceremony which saw in attendance the Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association Henry Asante Twum and the entire LOC team, ensured a successful launch with the help of the media.

At the launch, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) announced the official date for the Championship and also made known the number of teams participating, travel arrangements, accommodation, training pitches, match venue, among others.

Chairman of the Committee, Samuel Anim Addo during the launch said; “Today is a special day and Ghana is going to make history, this particular tournament WAFU U-17 Championship is a preparatory stage for the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON to be hosted in Algeria”

“It is a great tournament for Ghana and Africa”.

“Why am I saying, it’s a great tournament? It’s a great tournament because it is being hosted by a Great City Cape Coast, former Capital of the Gold Coast a place where football begun in Ghana”Alot of history to repeat itself here, a lot of cultural things to be experienced and felt here, many people will be here to experience Ghana, the rich culture of Ghana”

“So today is a special day that we launching this tournament, we are entreating each and every one of you, Ghanaians, media and all over the world to join us make history once again with this tournament in Cape Coast”.

The tournament is scheduled for Cape Coast stadium from Saturday, June 11 – Friday, June 24, 2022.

Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger, Benin, and host Ghana are the seven teams that will be competing for the title and ticket to Algeria for the Africa Cup of Nations.
