Breman-based Essiam Socrates have sealed promotion to the Ghana’s Women’s Premier League for the first time in the club’s history with one match left to play.
Socrates are comfortably leading the summit following a 1-0 win against Kasoa-based Blessed Ladies in matchday 4 of the 2021/22 Women’s Zonal Championships playoff on Friday afternoon.
The Central Regional champions has 12 points from 4 matches played and has superior advantage against all teams.
A 1-0 victory on the day ensured that Essiam Socrates open an unassailable 7-point lead and mathematically secured their place for 2022/23 Women’s Premier League.
The qualification to Women’s topflight league is the first in Essiam Socrate’s history since their establishment in 2017.
Following Socrate’s qualification to the Premier League, three other teams are vying for the remaining ticket to play in the next season’s Women’s Premier League (WPL).
The action will continue on Sunday for the final fixtures on Sunday after Ridge City and Anlo Ladies game which will be played later on the day at 3pm.
