Karela United coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has said that the penalty which was awarded against Asante Kotoko was legitimate.
The Passioners were awarded a penalty 63rd minutes after Karela player Emmanuel Owuso Boakye was brought down by Sheriff Mohammed in the box.
The decision taken by referee Emmanuel Tampuri attracted a lots controversies by Asante Kotoko fans thought it was too harsh.
But reacting to the decision from the referee, Karela United new gaffer, Shaibu Tanko stated that by the laws of the game, the decision was legitimate.
” Let me come in, from where I was and by the law once a player has the ball and is in the penalty area and advancing towards a goal and you prevent him then it is foul, you can see clearly” he stated.
” We created a lots of chances that we can score more, and I also applaud Kotoko for given us good game “.
Shaibu Tanko replaced Bismark Kobi-Mensah as the head coach of the Aiyinase-based Karela United.
