It wasn’t particularly easy conducting the research within 65-days but after various consultations with expects across African leagues and also thanks to other football portals on Africa continent, Kick-off ( South Africa), cheeron.com( Nigeria) sports-iviore.ci( Ivory Coast), New era sports( Namibia) and Lions Sports( Cameroon) .

Africa continue loosing our key players to European nations, and just look at the just ended 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, many African descent were on parade at the tournament and also widespread migration of African players who are seeking better employment opportunities, because of the poor financial state of some of the African leagues.

Only a few countries in Africa are financially strong and even paid better than some European, Asian and South and Central American clubs.

Some clubs here on Africa continent cannot afford a team bus or afford to own a stadium and to make it worse, they are unable to pay monthly wages to their players and that has been the reason why many of the players are moving in search of greener pastures.

Six months ago, Ivorian Professional Football League President revealed through a proposal submitted to the “Executive Council Committee ” adopted that the basic salary for Ivorian Ligue 1 shouldn’t be as low as $300 a month per player.

Elsewhere in Cameroon, Football Association President Samuel Eto’o also announced that minimum player salary of Ligue 1 should be of CFA 200,000 that is equivalent to ( $335).

The worst case continue here in Ghana and Nigeria who reportedly among the leading countries with more nationals playing abroad.

In Ghana for example, the minimum wage for player is $100 with a highest earner getting $2000, while in Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, players earn an average of $8,000 a month.

With one of the best leagues in Africa and top teams like Al Ahly and Zamalek, Egypt’s highest-earning player pockets $100,000 ($1.2M) annually and currently the highest earner on Africa continent.

Percy Tau, the South African star is currently the highest paid player in Africa.

And in Nigeria, Rivers FC star Theophilus Afelokhai is the highest earner while Samuel Inkoom ( Former Black Stars defender) who plays for Hearts of Oak is Ghana’s paid player.
