Karela United held on for a vital point in their relegation fight to draw against Asante Kotoko.
Karela United came from a goal down to draw 1-1 against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon in Matchweek 32 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The draw has lifted Asante Kotoko from fifth to fourth with 48 points, while Karela United remains in their 16th position with 41 points, remaining in the relegation places as well.
The game started on a feisty note, with both sides receiving yellow cards within 15 minutes. Rocky Dwamena was booked for the Porcupine Warriors, and Dafie Humin Mohammed received a card for the Pride and Passion lads.
Asante Kotoko took the lead after only 29 minutes when Rashid Mohammed turned the ball into his own net after a great save from the Karela United goalkeeper following a cross from the right.
Asante Kotoko went into the break with the lead courtesy of the own goal.
The visitors pushed for the equalizer after the break and were rewarded in the 75th minute when Fatawu Mohammed scored for Karela United, leveling the game at 1-1.
