Burkina Faso took a shock lead 5 minutes into the game after Ange Kelly Nayaga delivered a lovely through pass to Ragnangnewende Djiguemde who made no mistake to cap off the swift move.

The Black Princesses fought back for an equalizer, and it was not long before captain Stella Nyamkye grabbed her third goal of the tournament as she scored a free-kick, a few yards from the edge of the Burkina Faso penalty box to get her side level.

Hasaacas Ladies’ Success Ameyaa’s long range shot in the 29th minute beat Burkinabe goalkeeper Ouedrago in the goal to give Ghana a 2-1 lead in the first half.

Northern Ladies’ No.1 goalie Afi Amenyeku made a tremendous save from the penalty spot with less than a quarter of an hour till the end of the game to deny Burkina Faso an eqaulizer after the center referee made a questionable call to award Ghana’s opponents a penalty.

Faiza Seidu extended the Black Princesses’ lead after a good possession play from the center of the pitch. Maafia Nyame delivered a great ball into the box for Seidu to convert after she received a pass from Helen Alormenu on the right wing.

Ghana will face the winner of the second semi-final between Nigeria and Benin on Sunday, June 4, 2023.
