Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak could look to offload up to 13 unwanted players as the club aims to cut down the squad following a disappointing season, Domesticsportsgh.com understands.
The Phobians has endured a difficult 2022/23 campaign that has saw them struggle to avoid relegation on final day of the Ghana Premier League. The club has lost six in their last seven games in the Ghanaian top-flight.
A chunk of the Hearts of Oak players have been in dismal form this campaign and the club is ready to offload such players before the start of the new season.
According to Kumasi-based Kessben FM, in a reports sighted by footballghana, the hierarchy of the club has decided to part company with some players as they seek to build a formidable side for the 2023/24 football season.
Attacking duo of Kwadwo Obeng Jnr and Isaac Mensah are said to be on their way out of the club. Their contracts will not be renewed by the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup winners.
Former Samartex striker Victor Aidoo is also leaving Accra Hearts of Oak.
Meanwhile, the club is on the verge of losing key defender Caleb Amankwah at the end of the season.
Amankwah, who joined the Phobians from Aduana Stars in 2021 will see his current contract elapse in the coming days.
According to reports, there has not been talks for contract extension, hence the possibility for Caleb Amankwah’s departure this summer.
The 25-year-old is said to be seeking for a new challenge after almost a three-year stint in the capital.
The Phobians are 11th position on the league log with 45 points and could face possible relegation in their last game against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday at the Golden City Park.
