The PRO for Karela United, Samuel Enyan has stated that the club won’t move from its current location in Aiyinase in the Western region to the Northern region amidst several speculations.
A majority stake of the club was acquired by the former minority leader of parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, in March 2023, with the politician stating his desire to move the Aiyinase-based club to the Northern region in the foreseeable future.
Speaking on Max FM on the Sports Pack Show, the PRO for the club said: “We’ve heard from numerous sources that the club will be moved from its current location to the Northern region, but that’s not true.”
He further stated, “All the chiefs in Aiyinase have been happy with Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, and relocating the club has never been an issue for discussion”, he said and added that “there’s a clause in the contract which also states the team won’t relocate from Aiyinase.”
Karela United is facing a possible relegation going into the last round of games. They sit at 11th place on the league log with 44 points from 33 games, with their last game of the season against already relegated Kotoku Royals a must-win encounter for them.
