The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) of Zaytuna Soccer, Alhaji Franco Lamptey, believes the retirement of his discovery, Asamoah Gyan, the striker, was ‘too early at the age of 37 on June 20, 2023.
The astute football administrator Alhaji Franco, when asked to describe the player he once managed, described him as a very hardworking and humble player who also never joked with his fitness.
“I was happy when I heard about his retirement, the Zaytuna Owner said. “He’s retired too early. I believe he still has a lot to give. Football is about age, and he’s aging now, so it is understandable,” he told Max FM.
“He is a natural goal scorer, and everyone was awestruck by his talent when he joined us on loan from Liberty Professionals. He was so good that he earned a call-up to the national team even before playing in the Ghana Premier League.” He added
Asamoah Gyan announced his retirement from football after enjoying a career that spanned close to two decades. He scored 216 goals in 417 appearances for the 11 club teams he played for, and he was also the highest-scoring player in the history of the Black Stars, netting 51 times in 109 caps.
